Hi all,

I've just had my medical for Greater Manchester Police and, after the nurse and doctor telling me that i'd passed all tests, have begun house/flat hunting in Manchester, as I currently live in Hull. However, i've not been able to work out an accurate budget for rent, bills, etc as i've found it near impossible to find out how much the PCSO take-home pay is, especially with overtime and shift allowance to consider...

Could somebody please let me know what the average take-home pay is? Obviously i realise it does vary from force to force, especially in the Met, but any figures to work with would be very helpful!

Thanks,
Steve

I think it may be roughly £1200 without shift allowance. I may be wrong though, but thats what i have read on here.

Depends on whether Brent is considered inner or outer london. I have been in just over a year and i am in outer london. I take home 1450 a month after tax, NI, union and savings.

Got back pay today though and a payrise (it will now be more than 1450), so desperately in need of that.

Met pay is considerably higher for some reason. Not just for PCSO's but for all staff and police officers. But then again, the cost of living in London is considerably higher than other places in the country.

As long as I get more than £800 a month after tax I am happy haha my old job was crap although the wage wasn't too bad considering.

I miss my radio days. Alongside professional rugby I was attending certain events with the station and although it was only 3 or 4 times a year I could earn my entire annual wage from my recent job in 2 events!

Looks like the PCSO wage is alright though.

With the figures being banded around on here, does that include your pension aswell? I understand that is 8% contribution for a PCSO?

I think altogether with the pay, plus location allowance and shift allowance the salary will probably be near enough equal to about £23k per annum. BECAUSE as I understand it, PCSOs dont work nights therefore the 20% shift allowance will not apply.

Hi FH BOY,

I was wondering £ 1800 that you have mentioned, is it before tax and national insurance please? and can you do over time if you want to? are you in Zone 1 or 2 please?

Thank you in advance

Hi Supehero,

I have a good news for you (I think)

PCSO's just had a pay rise and now it is £ 19858 + shift + Location so it comes up to £ 24,000 for Zone 2 and £ 27,000 Zone 1

I hope this helps, if you go to metpolice website you can see this! yes!!!!
