got a letter from hendon today.
it acknowledges my request to volunteer to undertake the special constable role etc
my application has been passed to the MSC recruitment team, and they will contact in due course.
still don\t know what way to go, but am in between jobs at the mo', but already do unpaid work in law and order.
will just see what transpires

I too got the letter, let's see what happens next. On the one hand I am happy to receive this letter, however, on the other, it proves to me that I wouldn't had received a start date before 2011. So I may as well do the SC and get myself some experience. Will be interesting to see how many of us on this forum start our SC training and when the actual start dates will be..?

Again they are contradicting themselves, they have been saying that our Special Constable applications will be handled by the PC recruitment team not the MSC team - now that these applications have been transferred are we to assume that nothing has been done since we expressed our interest? I despair!!!
Would be interesting to find out how your PC application is affected if you withdraw from the Specials process, technically it should remain untouched, I wouldn't trust them not to misread your withdrawal and bin the whole lot - that's what happens when you've dribbled on the monitor, things become harder to read.

Not that it does say much, however, the/my letter was entitled Police constable and Special constable application. Meaning this is an unique instance whereas the Met has never been in this circumstance where they are juggling applications and trying to recruit Specials from the PC applications. I can't really fault them, as they are trying to accommodation us all, either by offering SC posts or by putting us on hold. Worse case scenario would be to bin applications, however, I hope they never go down that route. I personally think they are NOT trying to loose their potential candidates and trying their utmost to retain their potential future PCs and not loose them to BTP, TVP, COLP etc.
