Border Force officers are getting one if they had anything to do with swiping passports, sorry, avoiding queues, no I mean protecting the border when the Olympic traffic arrived.

Below is an extract of the JBB Circular which details who is eligible. Following the very successful Olympic and Paralympic safety and security operation, the Prime Minister announced that a commemorative coin would be issued to those members of the police services involved (and to those in the armed forces and other uniformed services) to thank them for their contribution. This letter provides more details on eligibility and distribution arrangements.A contract has now been placed with the Royal Mint for the production of the commemorative medallion, which will come in a presentation box. A photograph of the design is attached.Following discussions with ACPO and the National Olympic Coordination Centre, the Home Secretary has decided to apply the following eligibility criteria for the police service in England and Wales:• Police officers (including special constables) and PCSOs who were the subject of an Olympic Operational Order. This includes those deployed at Games venues, whether as host force officers or on mutual aid, including those officers who undertook venue security duties in place of G4S. It also includes those working outside of venues who were directly supporting the Olympic operationThe Met Police Torch Relay Security Team.• Games planning team staff - both officers and staff: for whom Olympic planning was the main or sole purpose of their role for a period of three months or more, including those working on logistics.• Police officers (including special constables) and PCSOs directly involved in policing the Torch Relay as it passed through their community.• Those officers deployed as reserves across London.• Olympic specific police units such the Olympic Intelligence Centre, National Domestic Extremism Unit and the International Liaison Unit.• Control room staff directly working on the Games operation specifically.• Those police officers and staff who worked in support of logistics centres.• Staff association representatives who supported the Olympic security operation, in particular Police Federation representatives in Weymouth, Hatfield and at Leatherhead who provided welfare and assistance to officers at accommodation and deployment centres.• Wider Police family: staff from SOCA, NPIA, National Domestic Extremism Unit and ACPO Police National Information Co-ordination Centre who have undertaken Games related work.• Retired officers/officers who have resigned if they fall into any of the above categories - unless their departure was as a result of misconduct. For the purpose of this, "venue" means not only the competition venues but also the Olympic family hotels, and policing the route for the cycling and marathon races. Officers who backfilled for any of the above categories but were not themselves deployed on Olympic specific duties are not eligible.

Nykad21 you should be eligible according to the letter

No news of this for Met officers as yet.... Well, not on my borough at least.

I'll end up giving it to my misses who works in the control room.

The one listed on eBay went for over £70.

Seems like it has greater worth than I thought. Certainly more than this year's pay rise... :toast:
