I see the assessment is two days, apart from the four interactive exercises, interview, two written tests and the verbal and numerical reasoning test, what else is done during the two days?
I have tried searching the forums but i couldn't find anything relating to the MOD police.
Was looking at my local forces but the MOD police seems quite interesting.

And the firearms lecture which involves handling/stances, loading and unloading a clip, Drill for weapon inspection and basic information about firearms. Just so you can remember and follow out simple instructions.
Well that's what i did at my assessment with the MODP

So you enjoy working for the MDP then?
Where abouts are you stationed? Did you have to move far at all?

Yep, its a great job, it has its ups and downs but no different to any other job or force!! Im currently stationed in Aldershot on the Divisional Support Group. I'll be honest with you, if your posted to either AWE Aldermaston or Burghfield your opportunity for day to day policing will be virtually non existant!!
But if you can manage to complete your two year probabtion( and not lose your mind) then as they say, the world is your oyster because you can then transfer out to other stations that are a lot busier or apply for one of the specialised units.

Hi,
I start the Mod Police this year as well. Going to be stationed in Aldermaston. Just wondering how long u tend to be stationed there in your probation and if you dont do any day to day policing how do you complete your PDP/SOLAP?? Will there be any chance of getting arrest practice. Also whats in Aldershot, are u in the DSG? If so what type of things do u deal with, how many arrest u make etc? Is it Pro-acting policing. Is it hard to get in DSG or OSU etc As you can imagine really excited about starting...so dont worry about having to answer all the questions lol, just really keen to start workin hard.

Hi, will try and answer ya questions in order. You will have to complete your whole two year probation at AWE (A) before you will be able to transfer out or apply for any of the specialised roles there. You will get some opportunities to deal with members of the public as there are demonstrations held at this site on a regular basis with protesters carrying out 'lock-ons' and generally being a pain. On these occasions you will tend to get a few that need to be lifted for obstruction. Not the most exciting nick in the world but is still all good practice!!
Outside of this the rest of your PDP will be completed by carrying out scenarios on station which will all be arranged for you by your tutor constable. Whilst your on your probation you can request detachments to other units, would recommend trying out CID, DSG or OSU just to give you an idea of what goes on in this force 'outside' of the wire!!
The DSG's are popular units to be on because of the variety of work that we are invloved in. We are always away on various different taskings, and when this is not the case we are carrying out normal policing duties in and around the Garrison and surrounding areas.
Good luck with it all. Remember there is light at the end of the tunnel and its well worth sticking out the two year probation, it will fly by!!! Any other questions feel free to ask!!

With the DSG and OSU how does the shifts work. I am lucky to have a long term girlfriend who is supporting me and moving down to the South East with me, just wondering are you away from home for days at a time or do u tend to come home each day in these units DSG OSU? Can't wait to join. U have been a great help with the answers so far. Was worried that I would spend two years in AWE than suddenly be arresting and expecting to remember what to do from my initial 14 weeks training!

Don't know about the OSU, and all the DSG units have thier own shift patterns. But we work on a nine week rota, although it practically changes on a daily basis!! Unless you are away on a detachment you are home every night, and if you are away it is generally only for a week at a time, but the overtime always help to pass the time!!!
Again good luck with it all mate.

I'm also looking to join the MDP. living in Tadley (less than 1 mile from AWE (A)) the force there has always made me curious and after some research I decided this is something I'd like to do. I have a bit of an issue though!
I'm filling out the application forms at the moment but have come to a screeching halt on one of the competency questions! and wondered if anyone can help?
The question relates to:
Q1, challenging someones behavior that was bullying, discriminatory or insensitive.
For the life of me I can't think of a situation to fill this section! I'm sure I must have been in one but I'm buggered if I can think of it.
Its left me in a bind now as I want to get these forms in the post tomorrow but short of leaving it blank (resulting in low score for that question.) or providing a "what I would do in an example situation" answer (which I'm guessing isn't allowed as the form states "no generalising.) I don't know what to do!
Can anyone help? maybe suggestions for a topic which I just hadn't thought of yet?
Thanks.

They're quick alright, I applied to Derbyshire and it took 3/4 months for them to tell me I passed. There's no break from the form filling though - all the vetting forms come with the a/c info.
