  1. Hi all, Currently in a HO force and been looking into BTP. I'm aware they're not recruiting transfers at the moment, but will keep my eye out on the website. Specifically interested in the London, MK and Birmingham areas. In regards to transferring in, I'm interested in the work of the OSU. I've got my level 2 ticket and a few more skills like PSU medic. I noticed a few months ago, BTP opened up recruitment for transferees to join the Welsh OSU (a bit too far for me). But does recruitment ever open up for transfers into the southern Operational support units? Also, does the force assist with transport in London? For exams, travel on warrant card or oyster cards? Thanks for your advice. Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk
  2. Hi all, General MDP recruitment question. Can anybody please provide any information in regards to the role of the MDP at Alconbury (Cambridgeshire). I understand it's an RAF base used for US forces. However, without going into specifics, whats the day to day activity like for the MDP at this base? Is it mainly static duties? Patrols on the inside and exterior of the base? What specialist positions are there? ASV? Dog handling? Also, I recall the MDP where looking to relocate HQ and one of the suggested locations was in Cambridgeshire. Is there any updates on this? Thanks for your help. Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk

What Courses are worth to have?

Hi Koydek, Each force has its own recruitment criteria. You should be able to find this on their website. As for relevant courses / qualifications, theres various courses which would provide you with experience in policing. College level, you could consider BTEC Uniformed Public Service course. Uni level courses, consider FDA Policing or a BA in Criminal Justice. Rightfully so, some forces realise not all good officers will have qualifications. Life experience os so valuable in the job. Thete is talk of a Policing apprenticeship being developed. This might be of an interest to you, but Im not entirely sure what stage thats at. Whatever you do, good luck. Out of interest...

Hello, Just out of interest, what are the exact differences in the roles of Central Support Group (CSG) and the Operational Support Unit (OSU)? I've had a look the MDP's website and both units look very similar. I intend of applying for the MDP when they open up for NEOF (I understand there's no plans to open recruitment any time soon). However, do the OSU and CSG take NEOF directly? Im a level 2 officer and if given the chance would like to use this in the MDP. Thanks for taking the time to respond! I see the MDP are looking at reviewing the recruitment situation at the end of July. Anyone know if this is going to include NEOF applicants, or just new recruits? Thanks. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

    Fitness requirements for special constable

Hello, TVP specials are required to meet the same level of fitness as regular officers. Initial tests consists of a push and pull test, along with reaching level 5.4 on shuttle run (bleep test). After that there is a annual refresher. This however only consists of the bleep test. If you contact the recruitment team they may be able to offer further advice. Good luck [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Thanks Beachdaze. I found another thread relating to NEOF's which also has lots of helpful information on it. I have been reguarly checking the recruitment website, unfortunately nothing yet for PC level. Fortunately I'm relatively flexible at the moment and there are a few sites I've got my eye on. Portsmouth however does look like a favourite. I'd be interested in visiting some of the sites, to actually speak to the officers and see what their day-to-day activities are like. Similar to the Ride Along which I did prior to joining a HO force. However, I dont think this is possible due to the sites being sensitive. Anyway. I will keep my eyes open. Fingers crossed opportunities will open soon. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Thanks MDP Rec. Im quite flexible on location really. Although Ive got a couple preferences. Does the force help London based officers with transport? For example, Oyster cards for those travelling to Whitehall. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Thanks guys, I'll keep my eyes on the website. Thats a shame MK86. Do you need any specialist skills prior to transferring from HO to MDP? (Such as response driving, psu?) Or will this the training be given, if its specifically relevant to your role? Also, I understand HQ is moving soon. Will this mean the OSU will move too? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Hello all. Looking at applying as a NEOF. Coming from a home office force. Always had an interest in the MDP, although a different type of policing, its still a very important one. I know the MDP aren't taking PC NEOF at the moment, but I'm keeping my eyes open for any updates. One of the stations I'd like to serve at is Portsmouth. Is there many opportunities for transfers to go directly into this station? Also, what kind of opportunities do they have at this station? ASV? Thanks in advance for all responses. Are the books worth it?

Definitely worth getting the book. Think of it as an investment. Good luck with the app. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Looking at joining up from a home office force. Always had an interest in the MDP. A different kind of policing, but still a very important one. I know the MDP are not currently taking PC transfers, however one of the stations I have my eye on would be Portsmouth. Does this station have many opportunities for NEOFs? I understand as its a national force you wont definitely get your preferred choice. Anyone currently work there who would reccomend it? Cheers. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
