  1. Hi everyone, I recently heard the news from CC blog that MOD intend to recruitment 120 and an advert is due to be released end Sept 2013. I have been waiting for recruitment to start up again since 2009, had application but was not the right time to apply. My step father is a serving PC and has been for 25 years, one of my inspirations to join and a great support I have spoken with the recruitment team, they really have no idea what and how they will recruit, she could not give me any advice on how to improve my chances, apparently they are still looking at how recruitment will take form, interesting??!! Anyway, I really would love to hear from anyone that is/has been a serving member of MOD Police, especially anyone who has specialised in the Marine Unit (life long goal!!). Any tips/hints would be much appreciated, what's going to get my application noticed? How is recruitment going to take form? Thanks to all that can help!
  2. Are there many people going through the application process following the recent recruitment activity in the West Midlands?

    Intake 2015

I had my final in-house interview at the beginning of August 2014 and haven't heard anything progressing my application since. I was told at my interview that they were doing two intakes, october and january. I emailed HR and they said that the next batch of fitness/medical tests will now be feb/march time. Anybody else in a similar position??
  4. There’s a lot of content on this site about the MDP but I can’t find the information I’m looking for so here goes: I would like to hear from anyone who has recently completed their training in Essex and started the actual job. Can you give info on the following: At present it looks like those who are successful in completing their training at Essex will be serving their probation in Scotland. For those in this position how easy was it finding accommodation and what standard is it in general. What are the average rents being paid? What are you left with at the end of the month when you have paid-out your rent and day-to-day living costs etc? Did you receive any help at all in finding suitable accommodation from the MDP or are you left to do this yourself?Lastly, how are you finding the probation side of things? Thanks in advance for any information.
  5. Hi All, I've heard recruitment for Wiltshire Force is opening in a few weeks. My question is down mainly to the qualifications. I didn't do very well in my GCSE's, however I did pass a BTEC and a HND, are these (BTEC and HND) enough to pass the requirements for entry? I've seen they want the original certificates (which I can get) however how far back will I need to go, will they want my GCSE, BTEC and HND certificates or just would just the BTEC and HND be enough? Any advice would be welcome. Cheers.

    Recruitment

Hi Guys I've recently had day 2 and am wondering roughly how long it takes on average for vetting and checks before they offer a training contract (Met) . Currently doing the CKP. Further to this, whats the standard training arrangement, is it typically Hendon? for how many weeks? is that continuous right from the start? does anyone know if they have intakes scheduled for November / December / January 2015 Look forward to any replies Thanks very much in advance Nearlynewcop

  9. Hi, I an ex cop and recently applied to the MDP. I have passed the paper sift and will be attending MDP HQ in Essex. I have heard the accommodation at Essex HQ is of a very poor standard and was wondering if anyone has any experience of this? As I see it if I pass the two day assessment I will be undertaking my training of 15 weeks at the Essex HQ and to spend this amount of time in substandard living conditions does not look good. Also the HQ seems to be in the middle of nowhere therefore escaping the base at weekends or evenings will be restricted. Lastly, is there anyone out there who also passed the paper sift and waiting to do the two day assessment? I live in Newcastle and would like to hear from people who are maybe from this part of the UK as it does seem like a long way to travel. What I mean by this is its too far to travel home on weekends (520 miles approx there and back) which means you’ll spend most of it driving? Cheers

  12. Hello Is anybody on here due to start with Lincs Police on the 21st July Reg PC intake. Thanks crazee12
  13. Hi, Recently i failed somewhere along the line on these tests through the Met Graduate scheme. Ive applied through the regulars but am very nervous about failing again. I did some reading online about the general common sense you need to use and other tips, but it wasnt enough. What struck me when i did it, was the behavioural side of it which i found odd, with the "whats more like you" questions which were very hard. One particular query i had were the questions which were along the lines of do you or do you not change your approach towards incidents/people. Common sense says that you have to act appropriately which means variance. However, i understand the emphasis on being fair and treating people equally...so its a tricky one! If anyone has any advice, links to practice questions on any tips that would be fantastic! Its frustrating because i know i can do it, but its navigating these stupid questions. Thanks!

  15. I applied for a position for police staff (social media) about 3 weeks ago - closing date being 2 weeks ago yesterday. Just wondering if anyone knows how long the application process takes? I am really eager to get an interview & I am constantly checking my emails. Has anyone been through the process and knows how long it roughly takes and whether they would get back to me if my application was unsuccessful? Thanks.

    Appeals Process

Good Afternoon All, I am looking for some advice from anyone who has recently gone through the appeals process or knows if I am on to a dead end. Anyway I shall state my issue. I recently found out I failed my application against the PNC check (not knowing why) however I stated my only issues that may stop me from being eligible. These were: I was arrested due to being misidentified for an act of vandalism i did contest this however irrelevant I was still taken into custody that night, they did however just before we were charged received CCTV footage that clearly showed I was not anything to do with the incident and was instantly released without caution or charge. I did decare this. I also had to pay a council fine for discarding of a cigarette butt, however again this was paid straight away and also declared. This is where I feel I may have an issue as it was never declared however it is not on any of my work records or was it anything to do with the civilian police. 3 years ago a regiment sgt thought I was driving over the limit and wanted me breathalysed by the RAF police (not a civilian police authority). After being breathalysed I was confirmed under the limit, however not content with the result the regiment sgt wanted blood samples and thus I was taken into their custody for the day so they could take the samples. After being released that day without charge whilst they test the samples, it was the last I heard about it and this was as stated 3 years ago, I was told this was unlawful and as a result was never put on to any disciplinary record as it must have been dropped completely. So my question is am I right to appeal or do these result in a fail every time? Again any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Hi everyone I'm currently undergoing the general recruitment route for new police constable as the graduate route wasn't open for applications. Does anyone know the predominant difference between the two routes? i.e. is one just quicker/longer than the other? I have a degree but I wasn't sure if this would make any difference? Currently just completed my application form and waiting to see if I get on a Day 1 AC :) Any advice/help would be much appreciated! Thanks
  18. Hello Has anybody been informed tha they are on the Student office intake in July 2014?

  20. Hello all, I thought I'd start up a new thread for the recent PC recruitment in the Derbyshire forum. That way we can discuss the progress of applications and any other related news. I handed in my form today. Drafting my competency answers again and again in order for them to fit in the required space gave me a headache!!! Let the long wait begin :). Anyway, good luck everyone :).

    Hello!

As the heading suggested I'm taking the opportunity to get involved in the forums. I've used the info on these forums throughout my application to Police Scotland but never actually been actively involved in the community. I am happy to say it helped as I am currently nearing my start date of the 10th of February. Thank you to anyone who has helped me get to this stage and I hope that I can be just as useful in the future to someone who was in my position way back at the begining
  22. Hi, I have got through all the assessments and just waiting to hear back on vetting for Met Police 2014. I've applied to the Met grad scheme. I just want to know - is this just a scheme where you build up high level knowledge in various different departments that is designed to enable you to become a future leader when you feel the time is right? The reason I ask is that I don't want to be a Sergeant after 2 years, or Insp after 5. Fair enough to those who do, and I know a Chief Inspector at my current force who is fantastic and only has 7 years in the job, but I just don't want to do that because I'd ideally like to specialise in CID/firearms (Counter Organised Crime/Terrorism). So will the grad scheme give you the tools, and then you are allowed to choose your own progression when the time is right? I'd obviously want to do my Sgts exam as soon as possible but I'd like to be a PC with at least 3-5 years experience before i make that progression, and a Sgt for at least 4 before I look at Insp. I've already been a Special with over 3000 hours of shifts over 4 years, and a lot of the PCs I work with tell me to just go for HPDS/Grad Scheme (intact my Sergeant persuaded me to apply to grad scheme in the first place). I also have military training having been in the TA whilst at University and a little longer after that for 4 years. So I already do have some slightly applicable experience. I just don't want to be Chief Inspector of Procurement and Supplies ordering in BIC pens when I'm 35!!
  23. Hi Guys Just inroducing myself on here... I have been a Special with Wilts Police for 3 years and I have applied for Norfolk Police in August, so as it opened basically !!! cauliflower ear!

Hello Guys, I wonder if you think the following is likely to throw up problems. I DO NOT mind the odd crack/joke etc as I am sure some of you will have some applicable jokes to add!!! I have a cauliflower ear/messed up ear (only one!) and wondered if the appearance of my scarred ear is likely to be an issue in both recruitment and on the job. I am currently awaiting an invite to an assessment center but wanted to get some feedback. I am really thinking of the general public first whether they will see this as a weakness (possibly) or use my cauliflower ear as a focal point which in turn could escalate situations for both my colleagues and myself. I am a big lad, old enough and ugly enough to take care of myself and never had a problem with it but being a police officer is a unique occupation and will throw conflict situations at me possibly daily. I do not mind the jokes and nick names! been there, had that, its all fun. Just on the safety and security aspect, whether medical or interviewers etc might not look at me positively. Hope I made sense. I said cauliflower ear as that's best way to describe my ear trauma. Cheers
