An area where we (The Public) can say what we really think of HATO. Brilliant idea!

But in all seriousness, not a good idea. If people do not like others thoughts they can bring that forth in any area of this site, just do not make it personal!

I was just wondering what gave rise to this idea? I might review my opinion if I knew...

..and I must visit this ARRSE forum . .what an unfortunate acronym!

You can be quite sure that that was done on purpose.

No, indeed. I'd figured as much. Still, I, myself, am "hardening up" on this forum pretty quick, so I guess I'd be "fit" for it soon... :boxing:

Apologies for my ignorance: What's HATO (I did google but couldn't find anything that looked relevant)

It'd be interesting to see how it panned out if put in to place. It's all too easy to overstep the mark when you're getting agitated about something though so it probably wouldn't last for long. Perhaps creating a different forum area purely for "debates" etc where there is a level of moderation but slightly toned down?

Sorry for bringing a thread back from 2013 but i thought it was better than creating another thread discussing the same topic.

Anyway i was thinking about how to get more news stories discussed on this site, at the moment it is a tad quiet, the newsroom has only got 1 page with 2 year old topics for example.

Dragonfly did encourage me to use PoliceUK forum, which I did and posted a story following the rules, and was immediately accosted by 2 moderators, who demanded to know if I had permission to post my news story, and they advised me that they felt my material was not suited to their forum and my topic was deleted, thankfully Dragonfly flew to the rescue (no pun intended) and undeleted my thread.

However I don't think I will be going back to that forum, its seems like a closed shop, and the staff their don't seem welcoming to new members.

Anyway I digress.....

Reading through this thread, have people changed their minds from 2013? Maybe a free for all area is what this forum needs to provoke passionate news debate?

I have no problem, in theory, with an un-moderated area, but, it wouldn't *really* be un-moderated.

In practice. Irrespective of what was posted, it would all have to be within the forum rules or it would descend in to chaos & probably litigation as far as the forum is concerned, and to avoid that, there has to be a certain level of moderation.

So, I'm afraid that I'm not convinced that it would really work.

Very true, I suppose a no holds barred approach works on certain forums as our colleagues have mentioned (ARSE) however the irony is this thread seems to be full members with banned signs, and this is a thread for just discussing the idea, god knows what bedlam will ensue if such a area was created

Anyway just an idea and thanks for reading.
