Hi everyone,

I recently heard the news from CC blog that MOD intend to recruitment 120 and an advert is due to be released end Sept 2013.

I have been waiting for recruitment to start up again since 2009, had application but was not the right time to apply. My step father is a serving PC and has been for 25 years, one of my inspirations to join and a great support

I have spoken with the recruitment team, they really have no idea what and how they will recruit, she could not give me any advice on how to improve my chances, apparently they are still looking at how recruitment will take form, interesting??!!

Anyway, I really would love to hear from anyone that is/has been a serving member of MOD Police, especially anyone who has specialised in the Marine Unit (life long goal!!). Any tips/hints would be much appreciated, what's going to get my application noticed? How is recruitment going to take form?

Thanks to all that can help! :bye:

I've signed up to this site because I intend to join the MOD police too. I have been waiting for far too long to join and just hope I can get in since there are only limited places available and I'm sure there will be millions of people applying. (intentional hyperbole!)

Piggy backing on the back of gema_argie's question, I'd like to know whether people think my age will be a problem or a boon? I'm 29 (so not old!) but will there be favouritism shown to younger people? What sort of things are the recruitment officers looking for?

Hello Idaho,

At 29 i think your age will be a bonus, young enough for a full career. Old enough to have had some "life expirence"

Don't worry about it :)

When I transferred police forces there were quite a few MOD PCs trying to transfer as well. That may present an opportunity for you guys but could also suggest that the MOD police ain't such a great place to work. If any home office forces were recruiting nearby I'd chose them over the MOD police.

Could be interesting if the MOD were going to recruit.

Year I would if I were you. I didn't think they would be recruiting til next year at the earliest though, through budgets etc but I could be wrong. Just do your research first, so you know exactly what they do.

I did think this as well it does seem odd to recruit condsidering their plans to downsize over the next few years. But if there's a rumour I'll happily jump on it.

If anybody wants some info an application I can try and help.

Due to my work I am in close contact with mdp officers and have gained good knowledge about recruitment etc...

I've just completed my application form and will be sending it in Monday morning..so fingers crossed.

Good luck to everyone who applies!

Here is a tip, look up the starting salary before you apply; and then go and work at your local McDonalds instead, you will be paid the same (£17550), wont have to spend half your net income renting a pokey room in someone's house in Tadley, and be treated with more respect by managers and customers.

You want to be a Police Officer, apply to your local Home Office force.

Just a question, why are you slating the MDP on every topic at every chance you get?

Its a fair point, if harshly put.

The MDP are paying basically 'the minimum wage' now; and £5000 less than Thames Valley Police recruits will get from day 1.

I don't think people realise that this is only around £1000 a month in the bank after the various deductions, out of which you will also have to rent somewhere to live, feed yourself, run a car (There is no public transport to AWE)

If you are long term unemployed and live near Aldermaston it might be a good idea. Anyone thinking of giving up a job and relocating...... Don't!

You want to be a Police Officer, apply to your local Home Office force.

Sage advice, As long as you know what you are signing up to in the MDP. But 'Policing' it aint. I cant see why this poorly paid job interests people when they can join TVP directly instead for £23K
