Introducing myself! (Please respond)

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

The situation I am in is a bit of a pickle, originally I wanted to join the royal marines and so have trained for 3 years in preparation for them, and I can pass the recruitment fitness tests for the royal marines exceptionally.

However, that career has now gone down the drain as I am currently going through the procedures and diagnosis of very mild asthma, asthma Is a big NO in the armed forces, no ifs or buts. So I was wondering and/or hoping if this mild asthma will prevent me from joining the police or not? The police was always my second choice as i have always shown an interest in the law and law enforcement, I have an A level in Law.

Fitness tests such as the bleep test I can get around level 13, so you can tell this is obviously very mild asthma. I'm 19 so this has clearly not been an issue with every day living in the past, it was only brought up because I wanted my medical notes for my RM application and my GP wanted to check! Peak flow I can get around 580 and my lungs absolutely do not affect my performance, just according to a lung function test I'm on the border between asthma and 'healthy'.

Do you think however many months down the line when I get to the medical stage for whatever force I wish to apply for, I will be Okay?

Any help is much appreciated, sorry for the long post.
