References failed, freedom of information act

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was due to start as an FCR in September subject to references.

Unfortunately, I received the following email

Quote

I refer to your recent application for the position of FCR Full-time - May 18.

Your continuance in the recruitment process is subject to the receipt of reference and security clearances that are satisfactory to our organisation.

I am now in receipt of the results of the necessary checks and it is with regret that I must advise you that you have been unsuccessful in your application as we are unable to secure references satisfactory to our organisation.

In these circumstances it is not Police practice to provide any further feedback regarding this matter.

In accordance with our recruitment policy your application will be retained for one year, after which time your application will be confidentially destroyed. Your medical, financial and security information will also be confidentially destroyed.

May I take this opportunity to wish you every success in your future endeavours.

They say it is not their practice to disclose the reason for failure.

However, can I not envoke the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to obtain this information as to why I failed and who provided the unsatisfactory references?

I am quite keen to find out exactly what was put about me and by whom so that I can contest it.

Thanks
