Those look about right for the competencies. Regarding effective communication, it's not a question as such, more that you're assessed on your ability to communicate effectively throughout the interview. Crap to hear about the intake being cut guys. I passed out of Tully in September last year and been on the street since, can honestly say it's all worth it guys and gals, stick with it and you'll realise that the end results was well worth the wait.

All these emails are making me question whether to book another holiday or not in the summer haha!
-
I was told after my medical, i had a ff/smt date of the beginning of Feb, but received the email a week before, i heard that the December intake was expecting to take 80 but only took 20, so they were all put back till March. fingers crossed for June though.

Yes I do recall that! @MDPREC Do you know if contracts have been posted yet? -
There is a lot of red tape with unfair dismissal now tho. So unless you had worked a notice period then asked for your job back i'm sure you would be ok. Hopefully i get into the september intake. But they where fairly certain at Jackton that my group would be in the winter/next year.

I’ve not got a contract of employment, so officially I wouldn’t imagine I’d have to give them any notice! But when I got told there were contacting current employers, I thought best to tell them, before they got the email looking for references etc. I also thought they wouldn’t allow me to stay, but grudgingly they have

Hey Everyone, have noticed the forum has been pretty busy the past couple of days. Good to see everyone is getting on a bit in the process. I have my A/C next week. Am I correct in saying that the competencys being assessed in the interview are : Effective communication Personal effectiveness Job knowledge Personal awareness Leadership Partnership working I understand there will definetely be a question assessing effective communication. Have positive and negative examples for each competency so fingers crossed the questions are suited! Actually really looking forward the A/C.
-
Yay well done you!! I wouldn’t say you can really prepare for a/c, just try to relax and be yourself and make sure you get involved with the activities. For the second interview, I thought it was very similar to the first but they press you a bit harder so just make sure you have plenty of examples for the competencies and can adapt them to different situations, positive & negative. Also, have a look at what campaigns are going on with Police Scotland just now and if they are working with any organisations for example child line for an anti child abuse campaign, as part of the partnership questions. Good luck Steph :-)

Hi Joe, Same for me, ill be looking into accommodation in and around Reading once I’m in training as I currently live in South Yorkshire so will need to relocate. When did you complete your Search assessment? Tom -
Why do some officers have only four digits on their collar numbers but the majority seem to have five? Is there a specific reason or is it just pot luck?
-
Woohoo! Well done.
-
Phew passed initial interview . I'm surprised but obviously over the moon. I'll give them a buzz tomorrow for feedback. Now looking for tips for AC and second interview if any of you lovely people can help.

Yeah that was why I transferred my application to Aberdeen instead of Jackton as I heard it would be quicker too - fingers crossed!
-
Rumour has it that the process is quicker through Aberdeen. So fingers crossed it's true for us.

Oh, forgot to mention, but on the matter of insurance. Make sure you have the appropriate professional indemnity cover as you will be processing the data and become equally liable if it is mis-handled and the new penalties are quite "harsh" Thats above and beyond any you may have for parking / driving/ using your vehicle on and around the private estate / property.
