Does anyone know if policing 2026 comes up in the initial interview ? I've got mine next week but wasn't sure if this was one of the things I should be learning, already feel I'm trying to cram a load of info into my head without adding stuff that they won't ask about.

Anyone got example questions that they will ask for personal effectiveness ? I'm really struggling with that competency as I'm unsure what they are likely to be asking.

When you say more negative than possitive, do mean like when the outcome didn't go the way you wanted ? Do you have an example of the way they put the question ?

I would drop them an email just to confirm they have received your application, I got an automatic response then another email telling me that my application had been passed to the correct command. If you have received nothing then if I were you I'd contact them. 👍

According to the website you can use a calculator for the numbers and information handling papers, I've got mine in a few weeks and have been studying with a calculator, if you are not allowed a calculator in the information handling then I better get practicing.

Hey folks I've got my SETS in a couple of weeks and was wondering what people used to prepare themselves for it. Obviously I've tried the 3 papers that are on the website but is there any more that people practised with ?

Well in my case i got my acceptance email and was given 1 month before my test but that is including the Christmas period so this might be shorter in your case. Hope you hear something back soon :)

Wow that is a long time, I'm guessing it's to do with your posting preferences, if you applied for any of the west divisions then I'd imagine you are in for a long wait, I think anyone who has opted for any of the east divisions are getting through a lot quicker, hopefully you are not waiting too long. As far as vetting goes I'm not 100% sure but I think they just do an initial background check to make sure nothing obvious will stop you application. Keep us up to date anyways 👍

Yeah i got that email then the next day i got an invite, I have set my preferences to Forth valley and Lothian & borders yet my fitness and sets are at jackton, would have thought it would be done with east command, perhaps because i live in lanarkshire I'm going through the west. Hopefully you dont have to wait too long

Just to give a quick update on my application, got an email yesterday telling me I had past the paper sift and I've now been invited for my initial fitness on the 18th of January and the SET on the 30th of January. Exciting times ahead :)

Hi d4nny I sent my application on the same date as you and was wondering if you had heard anything back yet ? I got my confirmation email but nothing else as of yet and that's been about 10 weeks.

Just sent my application this morning, really looking forward to the process and hopefully get a job at the end of it. I will probably need the help of some of you when it comes to the interview and A/C stage (if I get that far) but it's exciting times ahead for me. I know there has been a bit of a wait with regards to the time between each stage. I have opted to join Lothian & borders or forth valley so hopefully they are looking for officers in those regions.
