Hi, They get your previous employers references once you have your provisional offer to get them done and out the way and then once you have an anticipated start date they’ll contact your current employer. For those asking about when FF will be - you need to have passed this no more than 8 weeks before your start date so looking at beginning of February at the earliest. I’m on the March intake after being a reserve for December and my vetting was started at the end of October in case I was starting in December. Recruitment phoned me last week to confirm they were working me towards a March start now but that my vetting hadn’t came back yet at that point so it can take some time Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It definitely depends on what command your going through as West only do SMT/vetting/uniform once you have an anticipated start date whereas those going through North/East tend to start not long after the AC Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did anyone go up for their vetting at Jackton today? If so was it business dress and was it just a case of making sure your original vetting form was still up to date? Did they give any indication how long it takes for vetting to come back?

I’m up for vetting on 24th October and final fitness on 10th November. Would be interested to know how long the vetting/substance misuse results take to come back given I should technically be handing in my notice to my current employer on 17th November which is only a week after my final fitness/substance misuse.

Hi Becky My AC was 16th Feb at Jackton so quite possibly! Yeah they said that going by recent intake numbers and the lower demand for officers in the west, they potentially have enough recruits to fill the intake dates up to the end of next year which is likely why they've frozen applications for divisions such as G and Q etc. They also confirmed that vetting hadn't been started yet (probably need to complete a new vetting form as noticed the one on the PS website is different to the one I filled in back in October) Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I applied to west in Oct 2016 and my timeline is: Initial fitness - Dec 2016 SETs - Dec 2016 Initial Interview - Jan 2017 AC - Feb 2017 Medical/Final fitness - March 2017 Recruitment advised me that I would likely be starting in March 2018 however it could potentially be (although very unlikely) December 2017 or even June 2018!
